FABIO OFF ON LOAN

Manchester United fullback Fabio Da Silva looks finally set to be separated from his twin brother Rafael Da Silva after his agent confirmed that he is now leaving to Manchester United in order to put the final touches to the loan deal to Benfica. Fabio Da Silva has been regularly playing with this brother Rafael Da Silva since his childhood, but they now have to deal with the prospect of separation after it has been revealed that Benfica have shown an interest in the 20-year-old as a makeweight for the Gaitan move to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old Gaitan is expected to arrive at Old Trafford in a £ 24 million deal, which will also see Fabio Da Silva move the other way in a loan deal till the end of the season. The same as also recently confirmed by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has been unable to give regular game time to Fabio Da Silva due to the form of Patrice Evra. However, Patrice Evra is coming to the end of his career. Ferguson will be willing to play Fabio Da Silva more regularly than in the future if he gets regular first-team experience.

“Yes on May 14, I’ll travel to London and two days later I will meet in London with the leaders of Manchester United to discuss the future of Fabio. It is true that so far Benfica is the only option. Moreover, (Sir Alex) Ferguson himself has said this. Let’s see what happens, but our idea is to solve this issue during the meeting we will have. I think everything is well underway to having an agreement with Benfica,” Fabio Da Silva’s agent Cassiano Pereira told in a recent interview given to O Jogo. Federico Macheda is also expected to leave Old Trafford.
