FABIO DA SILVA SAYS CASEMIRO DESERVES TO START AGAINST EVERTON THIS WEEKEND

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro should be handed his full Premier League debut against Everton on Sunday following an improved performance in the Europa League yesterday,  according to former Red Devils star Fabio da Silva. United faced Omonia on the road where they secured a 3-2 victory. The Red Devils dominated the proceedings in the first half, but the hosts stunned them by opening the scoring. However, the club managed to avoid a shock defeat with a terrific response after the interval. Marcus Rashford starred off the bench with two goals and an assist for Anthony Martial.

While the attacking duo will earn most of the plaudits, Casemiro also deserves a mention, having been much more assured with his performance compared to recent times. The Brazilian star did lose possession on multiple occasions, but looked up for the challenge in the centre of the park, winning an impressive 13 out of 15 duels contested. Aside from this, he managed 100 touches, 72 passes with seven successful long balls. The 30-year-old also won three tackles while delivering one key pass in the process.

Scott McTominay has obviously been Erik ten Hag’s favourite for the holding midfield position this campaign and Casemiro has been limited to a cameo role in the top-flight. However, the former was far from his best in the recent Manchester derby and it could be time to unleash the five-time Champions League winner against Frank Lampard’s side. Whether he makes his full United league debut remains to be seen. In our opinion, Casemiro deserves to make the starting line-up, having waited patiently on the bench in recent weeks.

United won’t have an easy challenge on their hands at Goodison Park. The Toffees have been drawing games lately and possess the league’s best defensive record so far.
